The Great Motorcycle Trip of 2010

Back to home page

This happened during the summer of 2010, but not exactly as I'd planned it.

First legs of the trip are (this is really amazing - I emailed these to my new Android phone, and I can click a link and it automagically goes to google maps, and from there to the built-in GPS. I feel like I'm living in some future time!)

It covers all of Highway 49, which I've always wanted to do:

Sat Home to Four Jeffery Campground

Or maybe Home to Lone Pine Campground which is a bit shorter.

Sun Four Jeffery to Yosemite-Bridalveil campground

Mon Bridalveil to Calaveras Big trees via Oakhurst

Tue Calaveras Big Trees to Mom's via Volcano and Fiddletown

Wed  Mom's to Plumas Eureka State Park via Vinton

Thur  Plumas-Eureka to Kennedy Meadow (Eureka Valley Campground) via Truckee and Tahoe City, stopping at Summit Ranger District Office on Highway 108 at the turn-off to Pinecrest Recreation Area.

Thursday I meet JR and Schmitty, two good old friends whom I swam with in high school. We're going to try to kill fish and not get killed by bears.

When I'm ready to go, the bike will look something like this:

The Bike, in 2007 on my first trip

The whole trip looks like this (up till about that next Tues or Wed, when JR and Schmitty go home, and I goof off until I get home Friday.
